Future past

Forty years ago today, humans stepped foot on an astral body that was not Earth. Neil Armstrong,Michael CollinsEdwin A. “Buzz” Aldrin landed on the lunar surface and took a stroll. This event is still influencing the future since the number of technological advances that came about because of the Space Program are too many to enumerate. Scratch-resistant lenses, MRI tech, and micro lasers are just a few things we might not have today if it weren’t for the space race. It’s just one of the reasons that the Space Program should continue. The other, of course, is the awe it inspires in us. Can anyone really say they are unaffected by the monumental accomplishment that the Moon landing represents?

To celebrate this event, here’s a beautiful little video I found on youtube today. Ultra high-res photos of the Moon landing edited and set to music. Enjoy.
